Residency

An interview with Iris Donker & Katinka van Gorkum

We tried to get into the heads of our artists in residence Iris Donker & Katinka van Gorkum, but ehm… yes.

Translation:

Katinka: Ehm.
Iris: Yes.

K: We don’t really have story. We do have a lot of stuff.
I: Yes.
K: Yes.

K: Eeehm.
I: Yes.
K: There are some standards… Also pretty high standards.
I: Yes.
K: Yes.

K: It’s a combination between pur and fiction, and that’s exactly what we’re doing here. We combine pur and fiction, and that leads to perfection and purification. It’s very efficient, it’s exactly what it is.
I: Yes.
K: Our work is precisely what it is.
I: Yes.
K: Yes.

K: Yes… yes. Not at first but now, yes.
I: Yes.
K: Yes.

K: Hmm yes.
I: Yes.
K: Theme party.

K: Ehm. Yes and no.
I: Yes.
K: Yes?
I: Yes.
K: No.
I: Yes and no.
K: Yes.

K: Ehm… Because everything will be used for the end product. Hmm… I think because we know that it will be used for the end product.
I: Yes.

K: Yes, it’s a reaction.
I: Yes.
K: Maybe it’s more like an imperfect escapism.
I: Yes.
K: Because the way in which the escape comes about is also always present. You can always see the way back to reality, it’s not hidden.
I: Yes.
K: It’s not a perfect bubble. But because of that, it is part of reality.

K: Yes.
I: Yes.
K: Yes.
I: Yes.

K: An effect. Something. Mostly a positive effect.
I: Yes.
K: Yes. And recognition. Weirdly enough.
I: Yes.
K: Yes.

K: More pur… and more searching..
I: Yes.
K: Especially more time. Yes.

K: We are Iris and Katinka.
I: Yes.
K: Yes.
I: Yes.

K: Ehm yes.
I: Yes.
K: More, just more. More pur and more fiction. And more time.
I: Yes.
