Uitkijk Specials – Fathers: The Sacrifice by Andrei Tarkovsky

20 December - Filmtheater de Uitkijk, Amsterdam
21:00 - €11 - Free for members

We’ve teamed up with the most iconic movie theater of Amsterdam, Filmtheater de Uitkijk. Aside from their assorted agenda, the entirely student-run cinema curates bimonthly ‘specials’; series of movies, linked through a specific theme. And in addition, they screen a classic picture every month! Subbacultcha members can attend selected screenings of the specials and classics for free. This December, the Uitkijk Special will be “Fathers”.

After the fall of ‘The Bomb’, some friends on a remote Swedish island discuss the meaning of life, culminating in a postman quoting Nietzsche.

The Sacrifice is the last film directed by visual artist Andrey Tarkovsky before his death. Inspired by the work of Ingmar Bergman, Tarkovsky’s Sacrifice is a beautiful swan song that, in his words, embraces the absence of space for our spiritual existence in our modern culture.

Subbacultcha members can attend the screening of The Sacrifice for free. There are limited spots available. One can make a reservation by sending an e-mail to info@uitkijk.nl, citing ‘The Sacrifice’ in the mail. Please show your membership card at the box office.
