Eyeshadow: Akira + Yung Nnelg

27 October - Eye Filmmuseum, Amsterdam
€12,50 - Free for members

Music and movies are often interwoven. Eyeshadow in Amsterdam’s iconic Eye Filmmuseum shows this in a series dedicated to both film and music; a modern day classic followed by a performance.

This Eyeshadow we present the cinematic landmark Akira, directed by Katsuhiro Otomo. Akira’s animations, storytelling and overall aesthetic have been hugely influential, even outside the world of cinema. The post-apocalyptic science fiction paints the story of Tetsuo – a young boy who acquires telekinetic abilities after a hefty motorcycle accident. Multi-talented hip-hop artist Yung Nnelg will perform after the screening of the anime classic. Yung Nnelg has proven to be a true cinephile with Forrest Gump, but for now watch the video for the Akira inspired Tetsuo below, where Yung Nnelg and Ray Fuego fight against evil in Neo-Amsterdam.
