Basile3 – Malaise En Apparence (En Marche)

Last month saw Parisian audio plugs PERMALNK drop French producer Basile3’s Malaise En Apparence, a four track variation on a single, ominous musical theme. The release is billed as a meditation on “meaningless metropolitan everyday life”, a premise which will likely resonate with those of you not living the rich and fulfilling existence of a music writer. Standout ‘En Marche’, track two on the release, is an uneasy but absorbing listen, an anxiety-ridden stomper as suited to an embittered trudge up an office staircase as it is to soundtracking the descent of a futuristic overlord’s battleship armada on some helpless planet. There’s melodrama to the mundane.
