Dick Verdult. It is True but Not Here

Eindhoven-based artist Dick Verdult is the multidisciplinary master of such virtuous abstractions and that’s why we want to gift you a screening of It is True but Not Here – a documentary about him that will be shown at this year’s edition of music-doco festival In-Edit Netherlands. Verdult has been proclaimed to be ‘the last Dada-ist’, and for a reason – the visual and musical projects he exhibits boggle your mind and entirely shake up your senses and reasoning. Look closer, however, and the humorous package starts to reveal layers and layers of socially and politically relevant issues of our times. It comes as no surprise then that Dick Verdult has accumulated a cult following in South America, Japan and Russia, and that he has been a chief figure in the experimental field of Cumbia music. Join us for the screening and get to be in the enigmatic presence of Verdult himself, who will make sure your bodies leave Westergasfabriek well familiarized with the tunes of Cumbia.
