De Zomerdag

We’ve teamed up with our friends at De School for a series of Sunday revelries: De Zomerdag. A concept which previously focused on Friday and Saturday summer nights, this year De Zomerdag beams in on the day of rest for eight consecutive weeks, lighting up De School’s garden and upstairs venue (Het Muzieklokaal) with live acts and DJs.

Secrecy and a spur of the moment spirit play a big role in it all; As a conscious decision to inspire spontaneous nightlife, names will be dropped out of the blue as we go on using various social media outlets.

‘During Amsterdam’s busy festival season, lots of befriended artists are in town, and they might find room in their tight schedules to come and play De School last-minute. By not announcing our line ups months in advance, we create space to actually realize this. We have plenty of rooms to give each aspect of our diverse program a space to match – in our club we celebrate 20 years of Optimo, Digital Mystikz’ Mala will play, and we will host a night with Courtesy and Avalon Emerson among many others. Dekmantel will take over Het Muzieklokaal for one Sunday on De Zomerdag, and we will open the first Zomerdag in De Tuin (The Garden) with a live show by Peaking Lights Acid Test.’
