Subbacultcha Internship

Know what Subbacultcha is all about and want to get more involved? We’ve got two internships opening up: one editorial, the other communications.

Editorial Internship:

We’re looking for an aspiring writer with a passion for new music, art and film, as well as a familiarity with the artists we cover, excellent research skills, and experience with web and social media to boost our Online Editorial Team.

As our Editorial Intern, you’ll be assisting in all aspects of the site’s editorial process. More specifically, you’ll be tasked with discovering and covering exciting new music, art and film, and keeping our site up-to-date and flush with relevant content. You’ll also assist in promoting of all of our events, managing our communications channels and social media presence, and helping out with the magazine when it comes time to go to print.

The Editorial Internship is a part-time position for a period of at least 3 months. Editorial interns are required to work 3 full days per week. We are flexible though, so there will be ample room to adjust to your scheduling needs. Editorial Interns should also have access to a laptop and, preferably, a smartphone.

Please submit your resumé, a brief cover letter and writing samples in an email to intern@subbacultcha.nl with the subject line “SubbaEdit”. Please include a brief description of your musical tastes in the cover letter, be it a selection of your favourite artists or albums of late, or acts you think we should feature. The writing sample should be a paragraph about a band of your choice, not unlike the writeups in the Subbacultcha! agenda of our magazine. The deadline is 1 September, 2016.

Promotion/Communications Internship:

We’re looking for an aspiring communications genie with a passion for music and arts, who can channel the Subbacultcha voice and represent us in our interactions with members, followers and press.

As a Promotion/ Communications Intern, you should have a good handle on Subbacultcha, be outgoing and know what’s happening in Amsterdam. You’ll be involved in day-to-day tasks regarding the members’ system and communications so you’ll get to learn your way around an office. You’ll also have the chance to shine by taking over one of our social media channels, introducing your own promotional strategy or project. Good writing skills in both English and Dutch are required.
