La Luz + Slow Down Molasses

2 November

Generally when a band is described as delivering surf pop that jangles, it means they’ll evoke sandy Cali sun-kissed days. Haunted girl-group La Luz give that lo-fi surf sound a different angle – surf noir. Blending tiki surf riffs with doo-wop harmonies and a gloomy organ, these Seattleites bring the sound of a cool shimmery summer’s night.

If looking back to (what some would call) music’s Golden Age is your thing, you’ll want to look into La Luz. Channelling the doo wop, surf rock, and garage four-part harmonies that took the US by storm in the 1950s and early ’60s, few bands manage to sound as authentic and comfortable with the weight of history as this Seattle four-piece. Effortlessly cool, be sure to dig out the shirtwaist dress and the vintage wingtips for a trip down nostalgia lane.
