Straying south from Holland’s common musical grounds, Helmond trio Nouveau Vélo are responsible for what might just be the catchiest sound of Dutch underground. First EPs Courgette and Moestuin proved a penchant for infectious guitar melodies, while last year’s Daze took the group’s misty brand of shoegaze to new heights. Now on the dawn of a fresh full-length for Subroutine Records, of which single ‘Turning Away’ channels the pedal-swamped waves of the eighties, we’re prepping a celebratory Nouveau Vélo release party in the Dokzaal basement. Amsterdam’s finest guitar pop janglers Naive Set will kick start the night.
